We have been celebrating Black History Month and learning about inspirational people. We held a virtual assembly to talk about the achievements of many individuals: Louis Armstrong, Marcus Rashford, Martin Luther King, Guion Bluford and Jean-Michel Basquait. The children enjoyed sharing their learning with the rest of the school.
Cbeebies has a great website for our youngest learners to learn more at home:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/joinin/black- history-month. Alternatively, Newsround is also a great source of information: https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/49883230
Children in Year Six were also proud to also show off their cross stitch pieces which reflect a timeline of different Monarchs over the years. They have all thoroughly enjoyed the process and creating something they didn’t think was possible!
As you will be aware most of Essex will be moving into the Local COVID Alert Level: High from midnight on Friday 16 October. Currently this means no change to the education system in Essex. We receive regular updates and guidance from Essex County Council and are continuously reviewing our risk assessment to ensure we have the necessary preventative measures in place to minimise the risk of COVID-19.
Parent and Teacher Consultations
On the website, we have released dates for the parent and teacher consultation evenings which will take place in November. These will be held virtually. You should have received a link through ParentMail to sign up to your preferred slot. During the first week back, you will receive an invitation link. Please make every effort to attend your appointment. We know that children’s wellbeing and learning is hugely supported by a strong partnership between home and school.
Have a lovely half term and we will see you when we return on Monday 2nd November.
