New Class Experiences

Children have made a great start this week with their new class experiences. We have experience outcomes ranging from ‘Virtual Galleries for Changing Monarchs’ to ‘Secret Hideouts for the Local Area’. Learning across the curriculum will support children in reaching these outcomes. Teachers have been working hard to develop children’s understanding of place value in mathematics this week and to also address any gaps in knowledge from the lockdown period. Our focus on wellbeing is also continuing and children will continue to have frequent opportunities to talk about their feelings.

Class pages have been updated. Please do take a look if you have not already done so to find out more about individual class learning.

Sports Awards

Each week, our sports coach nominates children for a sports shout-out! This is for the effort and sportsmanship displayed during PE lessons. The awards this week:

Lois – Moon
Edie – Venus
Aaliyah – Comet
Rose – Saturn
Sam – Mars
Silua – Neptune
Jack – Earth

Well done to all of you.

Homework
Please access your child’s class blog to see the homework set for this week. We have initially set homework based on developing basic skills through the learning of spelling patterns and developing fluency in number facts through our Going for Gold Programme. We also ask that your child reads to you regularly. On your child’s class blog, you will find more information linked to our Going for Gold Programme.

Covid-19 Updates

Thank you again for your continued support with testing. This is ensuring that our whole school community is mitigating the risk of the transmission of COVID-19, which means the Academy can continue to run as efficiently as possible. From Monday, you will be able to access class activities for remote learning should your child feel well but is still awaiting test results. These activities will align with your child’s class work.

Service Gate Drop off

If you have been assigned the service gate for drop off and collection, please line up with your child during their class slot. We have added blue footprint markings to the one way zone so that you know where to stand. We ask that you wait with your child, for their own safety, until they have entered the playground to meet their class teacher. Please also bear in mind the safety of others while you are waiting and ensure you and your children are maintaining their distance.

Tongue Twister Challenge

Tongue twisters are an excellent way to practise and improve pronunciation and fluency. Actors, politicians and public speakers use them to sound clear when speaking. Mastering tongue twisters will help you to be a confident speaker.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck

if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

He would chuck, he would, as much as he could,

and chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would

if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.
