Welcome Back

We would like to offer a warm welcome back to everyone in our Academy community. It is great to have all the children back and the support from parents has been appreciated immensely. We are also excited to welcome our new Reception children and parents and hope that you find that your child’s transition to school is a smooth as possible.

The children are now very familiar with the routines and systems we have in place in light of our risk assessment. They have been ensuring they stay within their class bubbles and regularly using the hand washing and sanitising areas throughout the day. Covid-19 presented some frustrations last week due to a lack of testing available in the local area. Thank you for your continued support. I know many parents spent hours on the phone to 111, arranged last minute telephone appointments with doctors, drove to far away locations for testing and adhered to the self-isolating requirements. We really do want to have as many children in school as possible; however, we must continue to adhere to the government guidance to ensure The Flitch Green Academy remains open and continues to be a safe place to learn.

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to provide feedback on our remote learning which was offered in the summer term. Any suggestions will inform our on-going discussions in refining this further. We have already received many comments which recognised the hard work and commitment demonstrated by staff. PE lessons returned last week. Our Sports Coach has planned some great activities for children to develop their skills across a range of different sports. Neptune class worked on ball skills, Moon and Earth developed their tennis skills and Comet and Sun worked on hockey skills. It was great to see how enthusiastic the children were in the lessons and how much they have missed PE!

Class teachers will be updating their new class blogs this week as children begin their first class experiences of the new academic year. We look forward to sharing your child’s learning experience with you.

Have a great week and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
